"Daddy!!!!!"

We were trying to get Luke on video singing his favorite song "I've got no strings to hold me down" (yes, I know, he is dressed more appropriately for singing a song from Beauty and the Beast, he'll do that as well by request) - when we were interrupted by Daddy coming home. You'll hear Brett say, "This is just not right......"

Luke sure loves his Daddy (as you will see on video). Brett reads to him every night and does their little bedtime routine. He also has his "5 minutes of fun" with each of the kids on "their" day. The kids look forward to that like you would not believe. "Today is MY day for 5 minutes of fun!!!!" and the others kids are all, "Awwww!" "Lucky!!" "Well, tomorrow is my day" etc. Of course the "5 minute" part is our "out" if time is short, but it usually is a lot longer than 5 minutes. Brett is a softy. They can choose anything they want - most choice are jumping on the tramp, playing a game, draw, whatever - they just love the time all alone with their dad.

This is Luke trying to "be involved" when we do pre-school. Isn't he doing well?Working so hard! At first I couldn't figure out what he was doing with his head so close to the table and then I went over to look and saw him scribbling very furiously. Notice he even holds his pencil right? I can't even taking credit for this one. He must just copy the kids.

Fun in the sun (sorry Idahoans - don't read this section)

Beautiful day today - I walk out in the yard with Luke and, as usual, he heads for the play structure. Didn't think much of it. However, he was giggling and kept looking back at me. Maybe thinking I was going to chase him? He climbed on the bottom level and then looked over at me, then he climbed to the next level and looked back at me and laughs. I'd never seen him climb up before. He usually just walks around the bottom level of the structure. Then I realized he was heading for the top!! He was on the 2nd level with only one more to go. I told Anna to run and get the camera and I pulled him back down so I could get his 1st climb to the top on video to show Brett. All this time I thought he was innocently walking around the bottom of the play structure not knowing he was really scoping the place out! Getting ready to make his move. Dangerous! I'm glad I went out with him today - sometimes I just let him play on his own in the yard when the other kids are out there and if I had done that I wouldn't have seen him climb up and probably fall right off the top. After letting him climb a few times, I had to change the configuration of the steps. The middle step had previously been blocked with toys and tea set and pots of dirt, but I had just made the kids clean it up not realizing that would give Luke just what he was waiting for - his freedom to the top! So here it is.

Luke 1st sleigh ride and he was NOT happy about it

Sorry little boy! This was quite a bumpy ride. Luke was on my lap and it was actually kind of hard to hold him steady. Brett said that it looked like Luke was going to go flying out of my arms. No, I wouldn't have let go, but I don't blame him for being upset about this ride.
