My final day

Well, I'm kind of sad, but I am out of lemons........Tomorrow I am on to my oranges! Oranges seem like almost a feast. And then on Friday night I will get to have some homemade vegetable soup - but I'm supposed to eat mostly just the broth and a few vegetables with rye wafers. It sounds like the best thing in the world. It is funny - night time is when I want to stop the cleanse, but often in the morning, I don't feel like stopping.

I feel like I am actually free once more. Free of my sugar cravings. Now maybe the next time I call Dad about some ailment and he asks me, "How is your sugar intake?" I can say, "It is fine! What is sugar?!" I am very excited to start getting back into better shape now. The "free" weight loss (about 17 lbs.) is nice, but I am determined to lose my lbs. the real way by eating right and exercising. I really want to have better overall health - and for a long time, not just for now. I need to keep up with my kids!

Side note: since I dropped the cayenne, Luke seems to be doing much better. Poor guy :) He's eating again and not burping so much. I think he got his "own little cleanse" - but I won't talk about why I think that...........

Salt Water - GAGGGG

Now I know what Courtenay was talking about. I don't think I can make it through another glass of the salt water. It is literally making me want to throw-up and dry heave. Even the thought of it. I drank it about an hour ago and it is still giving me the shivers. For the past 5 days, I have thought that I can't do this anymore if I have to do the salt water. But then I drink the juice and I am fine for the rest of the day. I am thinking today or tomorrow will be my last day of the cleanse, then I will start on the 4-5 day "coming off" of it.

I did notice that Luke seems to not be enjoying my diet of lemon and cayenne. I decided to drop the cayenne for his benefit. He seemed to be pretty acidic and lost his appetite.

One more day..........

Yesterday, I decided to keep going another day or so because I feel great - sometimes a little tiny bit tired, but mostly great. I also still have some lemons, so I might as well use them up. I woke up this morning not even hungry or caring about food at all. What a weird feeling. It is kind of nice not to have to think about food - at least for me. I still have 6 hungry mouths to feed. It is kind of a strange feeling to be making meals and not caring about the food. I am a little bored, however. It isn't as fun to read without a snack. And what do I do now when the kid go to bed?! Haha. Lately, I have been craving a nice big salad. Bread sounds really good too. Maybe because it is baking right now. Oh well.

I'm thinking a lot about what kinds of foods I will eat when I'm off this. Fresh, Raw, Whole, Green. No more processed (or at least limit the processed stuff), high-fructose corn syrup, white flour, white rice etc. For the kids too. I can't control what they eat out of the house, but at home I can. Luckily, they like good foods. Treats will have to be reserved for holidays, birthdays, school, primary (yes, they send them home with candy all the time) and occasional bribes :)

Brett is really healthy - he makes me look like Satan when it comes to eating right. He cooked a turkey a couple days ago - so yesterday I added all the "fixins" to it - mashed potatoes/gravy, stuffing, pumpkin pie etc. It didn't even bother me not to be eating any. Later that night, as I was drinking my lemon juice he said, "Well, I better eat something fattening, since you are eating something not fattening" and he ate some more pie and whip cream. He needs it - I don't!

10 Days and Counting....

Sheesh. I can't believe I am still drinking lemon juice. Everyday when Brett comes home he can't believe I am still doing this. He was especially amazed after days 1,2 and 3 after so many "I'm going to start.........." I weighed today and I've lost 10 lbs. Not bad 10 lbs in 10 days - haha. I know it is "false weight loss" and not permanent, but it still feels good. I think I only have 14 rolls left on my stomach. Yay!

One Week and counting

Well, today I took my 7 day pictures. I see some improvement, not a lot. The important thing is that I feel really great. I may never eat solids again. Haha. It is really nice to WANT to eat brown rice, vegetables and fruits. Not just want the sweets. Still a little bored. Need to change my brain patterns.......

I did get a little shakey today - it was around noon and I hadn't had any juice yet. My left leg started spasming a little. I got my juice, some magnesium and all was better.

2 days in to this cleanse............

This is pretty hard. It is really hard not to think about food or want to eat what everyone else is eating. I'm determined to do it right this time - so I'm hoping more will-power will kick in soon. A lot of support from sisters (kind of like they're doing the intervention for the fat sister) and good ideas. Court said - mind over body, change your thought processes and have a list of things to do (instead of snacking). Sean talked about smaller portions (what an idea! haha, but good to think about) and to savour your food. She also said her favorite snack is 1/2 an avocado, 1/2 cup refried beans and 10-15 nuts. That sounds like heaven now.

On your mark, get set................

Okay, Easter is over, April Fool's is over...........lemons are calling. I'm going to start my cleanse tomorrow. (Have you heard that before?) Really, I am. The lemons are squeezed, I have my cayenne. I'm ready. See you later 35 lbs!!!

A New Me?

Now that I am 39............is it time to get my act together or what?!
I'm so tired of feeling tired and never losing all my "baby fat" - yes, I'll blame it on my pregnancies. (Of course, it is not my late night bowls of ice cream or my ritualistic midnight snacks or lack of exercise.) I'm 35 lbs overweight and I am not hiding it very well. So is it time to get my cravings under control? I really want to start the "Master Cleanse" and try to do it for 2-3 days. I've never made it to even 2 days in the past without cheating. I bought lemons back in December to do it with and those went bad after about a month. Then I bought a 2nd supply of lemons that slowly molded in the fridge again. (And you know how long lemons last, so this is pretty pitiful). I now have my 3rd fresh batch and I'm really gearing up to not let these go bad as well.

The cleanse is not "weight-loss" although you will lose a lot of "water weight" - but it is more to just get rid of your sugar cravings and to detox your body. You'll gain most of the weight you lose back, once you start eating solids again, but if you eat the right foods you will lose the weight. Brett doesn't believe I will ever start it. I hid the bag of lemons just so he won't think I'm going to "not do it again."

I feel like I am too young to be old physically. I want to be more energetic and not wear my same ugly clothes day after day!
